Ferralium 255-SD50

Teledyne Benthos are a group of companies located in the United States specialising in the manufacture of acoustic communication products, positioning solutions, remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, and profiling floats that work independently or together as networked undersea systems. They have been operating for more than 50 years, and their products have been used in the location of airline wreckage and maritime cargo through their range of FAA black box ‚pingers‘.

Acoustic releases have been widely used as a safe and reliable means of deploying and recovering critical subsea instrumentation. A secure acoustic command is sent from the topside unit to the subsea unit to release up to 25 tons of in-line instrumentation to the surface for recovery. The Teledyne Benthos acoustic releases are operated from a universal topside unit, which provides access to a wide spectrum of system capabilities and diagnostics to ensure ease of operation and successful instrumentation recovery.

The model R2K Acoustic Transponding Release is a full function acoustic release for use in depths to 2000 meters and loads up to 2000 kg. It is housed in Ferralium® 255-SD50, chosen to provide rugged protection to the sensitive internal components, and long-life from its excellent corrosion resistance in seawater.
